The classic is the red-wine spill. While you may have heard about the “white wine trick”, if it’s not available, there’s another option: Blot. To absorb as much fluid as possible, dab the stain gently with a cloth. Pour a tablespoon dish soap into two cups of water and dab it gently on the stain. You can rinse it off with cold water using a clean cloth.
Ink also can be a culprit. Do this first: dunk a cotton ball in rubbing ethanol and gently remove the stain. Alcohol can be used to remove ink. When the ink fades, you can use a gently dampened cloth to remove it.
Let’s move on to the weekly spillage – coffee. Stop panicking and wipe away any excess liquid. After that, add a few drops of liquid dish detergent to lukewarm tap water. Then use a cloth to blot and sponge with the solution until you see the stain go away. Finish with a rinse of cool water followed by blotting the stained area dry.
The pet owner knows how to deal with urine stains. A mixture of equal parts white vinegar and warm water can neutralize both the smell and the stain after you have absorbed the excess. As a preventative measure, after letting the mixture sit for a few moments, you can dab off any excess and walk your pet.
